History:
Kim Bội (Lit. Golden Wearable) refers to a class of gold jewelry worn by the female royalty of the Nguyễn Dynasty. Initially, Kim bội was a merit award from to emperor to any individual who has rendered outstanding service to the court. Later on, it was awarded exclusively to females of the court: princesses, noblewomen, wives of prominent officials, and virtuous women.

Typically, oval or rectangular in shape, these tags would be adorned with motifs such as phoenixes, flowers, and blessing sino-Vietnamese words. One side of the tag would feature the regnal era that it was made; the other side would feature expressions like "Quỳnh Dao Vĩnh Hảo / Eternal Excellence like Ruby and Jade" or the title of the owner, e.g., "Hoàng Trưởng Nữ Công Chúa / The First Imperial Princess". These tags can either be worn as a chest medal or as a necklace.

Kim Tòng (Golden Tassel) is a colorful accessory that can be attached to Kim Bội. In traditional pieces, numerous gemstones, beads, and pearls were intricately woven into shapes such as batwings or clouds. Finally, the extravagance of these accessories was further enhanced by the addition of many five-color beaded tassels that represent the five elements.
